Possibilities for the failure, the age of the birds, fish supply coming to the nest disturbances at the nest (none noted) or toxins at the fishing grounds are just a few that come to mind the reality is that right now we have no answers but rest assured we will continue to monitor and question.

Findings were that all three eggs were non-viable and although containing embryos none of the three were found to be viable and two embryo had begun to decompose so had been deceased for more than 24 hours. There were no signs of imminent hatching and no pips on the inside of any of the eggs.

Port Lincoln Osprey Sadly just a few days before the first egg was due to hatch mum stopped incubating off and on and then for 6 hrs, 8hrs & 20 hrs. Sitting to one side of the eggs. When they were deemed unviable they were sent for autopsy

Port Lincoln Ospreys (Aust) Mum laid a third egg last night 🥳 Some 85 hours after the second. It was exciting to see her obviously pushing it out. She allowed a look at the 3 eggs 9hrs later when dad brought her a breakfish. He seemed very excited to settle on the 3 eggs 😍
