Servant of a tiny dachshund, determined old feminist, wanderer and gardener. Always in need of more books. 🕊️🎗️

All my pictures of Holland Park's marvellous birds are #sideviews, since my endlessly bouncy dachshund companion means they've always flown away if I tried any other angle....

Wish my beautiful companion dog lurcher Pudding, from my youth beside Greenham campfires and genuine belief in world peace, could meet my beautiful dachshund Daisy, from now. How did we get to this time of grim nationalism, governments preaching against refugees and "socialists" chanting for death?

I love the sad peacefulness of Regent's canal in winter

I'm usually sad about our area being bought up aa London holiday homes, but admit the new American neighbours do a good #Halloween show. Daisy still doesn't like her outfit though, despite my hard work sewing on crocheted bats.

7th October.

And mine is to copy the lifestyle

"I love Autumn" I told the woman at the flower stall. Everyone says that, she replied. Then seeing my embarrassed face: "All true gardeners love Autumn" Transforming my unoriginality to pride in being one of the true.

The onslaught of violent hatred directed at people seeking asylum, is as bleak as humans can get in every day life. What next? Lynchings?
Nayyirah Waheed's poem encapsulates the despair.

I'm 71 and don't want to spend my old age being nice, looking after abandoned animals, teaching young children about life or living in oh god, a community. Much prefer to read in delicious silence, a steady supply of gin and coffee and an occasional wander out to a cake shop an art gallery or a film

Someone who lives near me has put this out by their front door and it chimes so well with the current world madness I think everyone should have one

Clientising millions of people because a minority sometimes require support is inimical to everything I learnt and taught in my 40+ years working in the public and voluntary sector. I feel like I'm shouting into a hurricane though, since #ukhousing so badly needs its #housinghero saviour narratives.

Suddenly my tastefully dull green windowsill has burst into lovely clashing colour. And we even have #bees. The endless trips from the kitchen sink to the front door with that heavy watering can, are truly worth it.

Took a little stem from a plant climbing through a garden bush and stuck it in a pot. It's steadily grown slender grey green branching stalks to a meter tall and has thrown out some buds. They aren't showing what they're going to be.

Anyone know?

Have you read The Trees by #PercivalEverett ?
If not, it is stunning, please do. In these weird and coldly frightening times, a book about combating entrenched racism and the grim stupidity of populism, is an essential read. When it's brilliantly funny, all to the good. #books #strangefruit #writing

Anything that arrives and sets roots - daisies, violets, poppies, campanula, occasional dandelions, nettles, wild garlic. Recently some tiny hyacinths. We have crows and magpies in the garden that come foraging for snails and leave seeds. I think they're probably the source of my flowerpot frog too.

What does "make the bed" mean?

Madness.
And yet I can't imagine life without the awful little beast....

Oh look, it's IWD again. Yay.

Please meet Daisy. Vomited blood while walking in small circles to ensure my bed, my son's bed, all the carpets and chairs were blessed. All night stay in animal hospital while I wept by the phone awaiting news. She'd swallowed a massive peach stone. Emergency op cost £5k. She still eats rubbish.

Which Moomin character are you? (Is there any question when you can choose to be Little My?)
