Hi! Been watching your content on Youtube. Love the 'first hour' where you ease into the game and often include a history lesson or show and tell. Def a new fan :)

Neato! Also wanted to say I followed you. I'm also from an HD family. Playing Civ and watching content (IV, specifically) ate up a ton of time during my caregiving journey. I've stepped away a bit from nonprofit work to give me some space after my wife passed in '23, but will get back to it! 💙

If anyone finds this helpful, here's the hex diagram I'm using. The spreadsheet is a screenshot from OdkaSolut's video. I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader to pull or maybe he'll release it himself.
As the saying goes, "Just One More Turn".
Who else is playing?

I spent the morning trying some of these techniques on a test city. Things made so much more sense and the build basically went as planned in advance. Looking forward to trying this in a real game as the complexity multiplies!

Coming from IV, there is so much to learn! I oved this video by OdkaSolut (www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wSS...) that helped me understand the core micro mechanics of city planning. Also have learned a ton from www.youtube.com/@JustOneMore... and of course, Civ Fanatics is still thriving!

I thought about moving to 6, but figured with decade long timelines for these games, I may as well wait and jump in at the beginning. I'm glad I did. It's been a part time job the past 2 weeks, and I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of this game. But also learned enough to dive deeper...

I picked up Civ IV again somewhere during the pandemic and played it a ton while caring for my wife and after she passed. Having streams on in the background and that early soundtrack was one of the ways I coped and kept myself out of doom loops.

It was sooo good! I bet it went great with curry. I made it twice in one weekend. The larger one was a scaled recipe for the pan I used. The smaller was a corner of the first attempt. I cubed it up and brought it to a party where others brought hot dips.🍽️

I got this guy recently mainly for camping. Been working through the bags of not quite enough coffee in the fridge. I love how much easier than a French press it is to clean up. 🍽️

Looks great! I made chicken chili yesterday, too. I switched to the 6 qt dutch oven shortly after this photo as I decided to just use all the chicken stock I had on hand and let it simmer longer. 🍽️

Helping families directly, sharing the realities of a diagnosis and the corresponding journey remains important to me. I'm not sure I'll go as far as calling funding science, 'wasted efforts' but maybe that shouldn't come from the community itself? All so hard.
