In my opinion, the money could have been better spent on lasting infrastructure to benefit local communities on a long term basis. It could have been used on stuff like improving public transit, building affordable housing, upgrading schools, or expanding healthcare facilities

Underground tunnels sound creative, but they might not be the best fix. They’d keep runners out of direct sun and extreme heat, but tunnels bring their own problems; poor air circulation, higher humidity, and limited space. Breathing in stale air while running could be just as risky as heat exposure

Yeah, that is insane. They have a right to be angry. If drivers are getting sick mid race, that’s a sign the FIA needs to rethink scheduling. Racing should be tough, but not dangerous just because of the calendar.

That’s totally unfair. I hope someone called that out, because then people could start talking about it, making it harder to ignore and things can actually change

I agree, it’s tough when politics overshadows the game. But sports have always been tied to change, like Jesse Owens in 1936 or Muhammad Ali during Vietnam, showing how athletes can spark bigger conversations about social issues.

This is an interesting article
that I found in relation to that:

I remember watching a documentary about this in my social class…wild how the Nazis tried to use the Olympics as a giant PR stunt. But the part that stuck with me was Jesse Owens winning four golds and totally blowing up their whole “racial superiority” narrative, flipping the script on them.

This is kind of out of topic, but talking about sports violence made me think about political violence too because both come from the same place. People get super attached to their “side,” whether it’s a team or a party, and when emotions run high, rivalry can turn into fights
November 20, 2025 at 4:23 PM
I think that’s a really interesting question. I would say that it could be a factor because when its hot, everyone gets irritated faster which can cause fights. Cooler conditions can help calm people and lower the risk of fights. That being said, It wouldn’t stop the violence, but decrease it.

One of them shot him six times, reportedly yelling “goal” with each shot. The shooter was tied to drug lords who lost money betting on the match.

I totally agree. I think they failed her completely. If they had made sure that she was not doping, they could’ve prevented all the drama that affected Kamila’s mental health. Also, there were rumours that the coaches purposely encouraged her to take the medication. Idnk if that’s true or not.

I remember hearing about this case. I think it goes to show that the competitive aspect of sport is not always a good thing because it can lead to feelings of jealousy and hatred

I wonder, does this have any health benefits or is it just a random habit?

In 2024, she was banned for four years and stripped of her past medals. Many people were against this punishment because she was only 15 years old so she probably did not know better. This makes me wonder, should her coaches have been punished too?

I think it’s really unfortunate that as a society, we’ve decided that being in pain or being hurt is something to be ashamed of. We should really work towards destigmatizing injuries, especially when it comes to athletes because these injuries often lead to further complications

It was a really bad accident and sadly, he didn’t make it. Soccer was wild back then and they wore less protection. This probably had a major impact on his family and his fans in terms of their mental health.

I agree with you a lot on that one. I feel like if i’m around a lot of people who take care of their health, I will feel encouraged to do the same. Also, always having access to fitness facilities promotes a healthier lifestyle for everyone, regardless of their situation, age, fitness level, etc.

I still think that I will have atleast some time to go on walks and runs or go to the gym. I’ll just have to learn to manage my time

I want to become a pediatrician. With a busy schedule, it might be hard to find time for physical activity, but I also see how factors like work culture, access to gyms or parks, and setting a good example for patients all play a role. I’ll need to be intentional and serious about staying active.
