Saving spare parts from jet-lag since 2017
That sucks. it’s sometimes possible to recover if you clean up the mess/ level to the failure point and print the remainder but really depends on model and type of failure. Am surprised visual feedback loops aren’t more of a thing!

yeah pretty much: there’s quite a few AM software providers out there but list of solutions that would actually save OEMs and End Users time & money is super short. Eg if you want a quote you need a 3D file and not many co’s have those readily available.

There’s a few SMB local manufacturing centers that eg could likely 3D print your part cheaper but they don’t typically have the digital infrastructure to automatically quote and handle your part and so they end up having costly overhead/handling charges (unless you know them and can just drop by)

What’s missing is 1) tech optimized for volumetric production of custom parts: 2) uniform standards 3) easier UIs so folks in procurement etc can order on demand without needing an engineer

We’re spending quite a bit of time on removing adoption barriers for distributed manufacturing. I can tell you that on-demand 3DP service hubs like Xometry and Protolabs have actually increased their prices significantly over the last year. Still stuck in prototyping business mode
