I saw a post that said "End ICE for Good" and it's been in my head ever since; 10/10 no notes

size of cap and amnt of current should set how quickly the LED lights, size of cap and possibly its material sets how long it takes to fade? Probably able to sequence several as well to tweak behavior, I'm no electrical engineer 🤷

I'm entirely theoretical re: designing circuits more complex than switch matrices but this does sound exactly like what a capacitor can do: closing the switch charges the capacitor>once full, LED after it lights>once empty LED fades. I believe the switch has to be open to fade

Coming back to this now that we got a chance to see it--MAN was that such a good scene.

Lighting changes between cold/dark and warm sun in the church all ruled, too

what is a spoon but a shoe for your... yeah ok never mind

Their new archaeopteryx display is super good too!! Scale models, a giant video display and a enlarged fossil you can touch. I wanna say the mold and its opening coincide but assuming they haven't moved the machines the molderama is outside the entire dinosaur/early earth history wing iirc?

I know they're both direct drive, but I think they did redesign several parts of the hotend assembly for the A1 so I'm sure there's differences... but how much they'd affect ironing I know not
November 21, 2025 at 12:26 PM
I don't remember where I found my ironing settings but somewhere someone said "I've got the best P1S ironing settings ever" and they were right, lol. I can send them next time I'm at the computer if you want
November 21, 2025 at 3:12 AM
ahh, yeah if it's the first layer that is different. I don't remember if bambu's slicer ported it over but orca slicer has several good flow calibration tests that helped my first layer settings a lot.

Have you played with ironing yet? It can have some *incredible* results but it does build up on the nozzle

the annotations with the scroll were super fun; it was worth watching twice to catch them all

pretty!!!
November 14, 2025 at 6:03 PM
iirc they're faaairly whimsical in LOTR but also everything across the board is so much... lighter? younger? more... fey? in the hobbit; the stark difference was the hardest thing for me to get over as a kid when I read LOTR

the powera controller might even work with the switch 2 tbh; I know there are some foibles with firmware upgrades for some wireless things with it, but who knows may work fine 🤷
November 10, 2025 at 10:19 PM
(I can sometimes tell with upscaled/extrapolated stuff, but that's more a gut feeling than anything 🤷)
November 10, 2025 at 12:07 AM
She might be like me--I don't think I am physically able to perceive framerates beyond 40 or 50 per second: the Switch 2 welcome tour has a minigame/quiz about its framerate and I was like, "this is a 50/50 for me getting any of these right beyond 40"
November 10, 2025 at 12:07 AM
and yet on the flipside: as a broad generalization I do firmly believe the 1:1 translation myth is rooted in bible translating so uhh how's that for complicated thoughts lol
November 7, 2025 at 7:38 PM
if it weren't for the obstacle of a shocking number of people still standing on the KJV only hill and the number of translators I know who (unless recently changed) would rather die than use it, I would be genuinely scared of ai bible becoming a primary translation
November 7, 2025 at 7:38 PM
I think it's only very recently I've come away from that same (lame) practical thought into the extravagance of "if I learned another language I'd have even *more* books to read" and I don't know if it's a thought that will ever propel me past obstacles to learn another but man is it a big thought

on education and art and life and happiness
November 7, 2025 at 6:23 PM
and it's not like you have to read them multiple times beginning to end to think about how it can be translated differently but we're still one or more squares away from that cuz it all looks like a chore instead of something enriching and it's all a tangled web of a lot of interrelated ideas
November 7, 2025 at 6:23 PM
yeah!! the general lack of literacy was near the top of "wow I am condensing this thought really far, huh". I feel like the thought of reading any of those even once scares most people I know
November 7, 2025 at 6:23 PM
it's obviously more nuanced than a microblog can hold but even learning one dead language to a moderate degree changed so much, especially around what a language is; I can only imagine how much perspective growing up speaking two would provide
November 7, 2025 at 5:50 PM
I often wonder what this slice of our current landscape would look like if the norm for every US citizen was being bilingual. The translation drive feels very US centric in general and the way it is flavored is just so... white.

what a lame cover; looks like the author painted it themselves
