in this ecosystem it feels like there's not much point in having multiple things that serve a similar/the same purpose and that sucks because if you start on something first but someone else beats you to the punch on finishing it then there's seemingly not much point in continuing with your version

i will say it has been very neat watching the activity on the atmosphere feed grow over time from maybe a couple of posts per minute or so to being nearly as active as the local pds feed on my main, currently bsky-hosted account

feeds are going to be frozen for quite a few hours, i'm currently doing some database maintenance to prepare for some changes

i'm thinking i'll probably just reimplement the per-pds post cap on the feeds, but to make sure posts actually appear after migration i'll backfill when a migration occurs

i guess at the very least no matter what i end up doing next i still want to fix the issue with the size of the pds feeds database

it is my belief that a scoped community model can solve a lot of problems but as far as i can tell there has not been anything on this network close to that and atproto appears to have been made without much consideration for such a thing afaict
