Apple season in New England! My favorite is the Macoun, bred by New York researchers in the 1920s from MacIntosh and Jersey Black stock. Great in pies and greater eaten fresh, crispy and tart (but not too tart).
They don't keep super well, so there's many a pie in our near future.

Just finished this amazing book, True Biz, by @novicsara.bsky.social and it brings home how vicious the new Trump cuts to disability education are. Calling my senator now.

Posted by Mary Doria Russell, one of my favorite authors, over on FB. I'm not as exhausted as she is, but she's been battling harder than I have. I guess it's up to the rest of us to step it up while she rests and recuperates.
