Agreed. Cheap land and labor is probably why. Shit, TSMC already had to deal with drought in their Taiwan operations before they ever broke ground on the new place in Phoenix. These places use so much water and electricity, you'd think a dedicated hydro facility nearby would be ideal for both uses.

I think they literally need the continuous misinformation drip feed to help shroud their minds from objective reality seeping in and piercing the veil and setting off a true cognitive dissonance break. And so in the meantime, they "hurka durka" and cowboy up and play out the fantasy.

I don't know that she hated the job (she probably hated the actual work that requires actual critical thinking), she certainly hit the ceiling on getting a gig way beyond her meager qualifications for it. Two offices, almost 200k a year salary, per diems, healthcare....she can't beat that.
