✨ It was a pleasure to have @manjeet786.bsky.social from @westsyduhie.bsky.social join our symposium, presenting both a poster and a speed talk. He shared fascinating insights into how arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can—and cannot—support sorghum in the fight against charcoal rot.

Fascinating talk by Jiahoa Wen (@westsyduhie.bsky.social) on the differential response of plants to distinct arbuscular mycorrhizal communities

Can Australian tree phylogeny shape rhizosphere community assembly?

It mostly seems so…

Big thanks to PhD candidate Nicola Haggerty (@sydney.edu.au) for an intriguing talk on the relationship between aboveground controls and belowground communities.

Are you interested in phosphorus cycling by bacteria and archaea?

Keep an eye out for this massive work by PhD candidate Lachlan Curran on the ‘S.A.T.E’ framework for phosphorus cycling.

Over the moon for Rebecca Greening from UniSA for winning best inaugural presentation at #ESA2025 🌝

Can’t wait to see Rebecca’s future on soil microbes on Aussie rangelands!

Fantastic talk by Solomon Maerowitz-McMahon from @westsyduhie.bsky.social, showing that fire interval and severity influence mycorrhizal community structure but not function.

Rebecca Greening (UniSA) is exploring the impacts of grazing on below-ground taxonomic and genetic diversity in Australian rangelands.

Ambitious PhD project—excited to see this work progress in such an iconic Australian ecosystem.

Xin Han from @westsyduhie.bsky.social is unravelling the effects of elevation on plant traits.

Why do tropical but not not subtropical forests follow expected treds. Looks like soil might be at play.

Kicking of our symposium is @camilletruong.bsky.social with a fascinating talk on the effect of feedbacks and mycorrhizal strategy on plant-soil feedbacks in heathy-woodland plants.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal but not ectomycorrhizal fungi were affected by heat. Very interesting 🤔.
