If there is any positive to come out of the Trump/ Musk mess is that the EU has woken up to the need to become more self sufficient and rely less on the US as a trusted partner for international security and trade

In the past 3 months America's allies have learnt that they can no longer trust America. This goes far beyond the next 4 years. No one will sign up to long term deals with the US knowing that at any time they can be betrayed by another US administration like they have been in recent months.

I don't get this bit...'the commission has asked the EU’s 27 national governments to look for “any trace of Bluesky” like EU-based offices. The regulator hasn’t reached out to Bluesky directly, yet'
Wouldn't it be more efficient to ask Bluesky first, rather than 27 national governments?

First computer was an Acorn Atom in the early 80s. Got me into computers and programming early, and kicked off my long career in IT. One of the first home computers with a 'proper' keyboard. Was awesome
