I met Fred von Althen on a Michigan Forest Association field trip to southwest Ontario in 1990. He researched nearly every variable of afforestation. His most important findings: 1) Grass & weed control vital; 2) Close spacing best; 3) Nurse crops help; & 4) Rapid crown closure critical.

Ernest Thompson Seton - "Woodland Tales", 1921. I first read this when I was 17, teaching nature at Silver Trails summer camp. In a similar vein as Rafinesque's "The World".

Duh. One has to wonder what Trump-connected parties benefit from this. Or is he just trying to sabotage southern California for political revenge?

2.2 billion gallons of water flowed out of California reservoirs because of Trump’s order to open dams | CNN
There are two major problems with Trump’s order, water experts said: The water will not flow to Los Angeles, and it is being wasted by being released during the wet winter season.

I essentially left Facebook 6 years ago, and now have all the more reason to not patronize that site. I maintain a Facebook account in order to stay in contact with a few international friends, but otherwise, will now make any significant post on BlueSky.
