It's funny when folks assume that USA politics dynamics will directly translate to PR if it were to become a state. Just because there was a shift to the right by latinos stateside does not mean that PR would be a red state. Kamala won by 47 points in the non-binding vote.
If Trump is keen on territorial expansion, he should just force the question on Puerto Rico: statehood or independence, binding 2026 referendum. The current framework is all cost and no benefit for the US. Puerto Rico would say yes and it. be a red state. It's a bunch of old white Latinos.
