The fact you didn't/did spell it out made it so much better. I think Steph Swainston made a similar reference with her Vermiform. I'm 57 and I can vividly remember Quentin Blake's drawing from when I was about 5. Anyway, it made me very happy and I shrieked M out loud while walking by an Abbey

I just had to tell you that I've just started L of Dark (Audiobook) and when the entity from the black hole started spelling out S. C. R. I absolutely PISSED myself laughing. I think the V Knid were possibly my first experience ever of a threatening alien lifeform. I can remember the picture. Thx

I came across the word 'aviatrix' for the first time only last week. Great word, very evocative.

There's definitely something there indicative of the wider enshittification of all the professional trades ie you can't do it properly because of surrounding ignorance. Possibly something to do with getting rid of all the over 50s after 2008 and a lack of any experienced in-house training afterwards

I used to do press passes on site with customers for a high volume printer. Only professional print buyers who knew what they were doing used it, it always raised my respect level. (possibly because it meant we didn't have to remake the plates for a typo they should have spotted and wait hours)

To me it looks like a standardised Decca design, with an offset black lens shape that nicely implies the motion of a revolving disc with grooves - with the artist info tagged on the edges.

They probably should have used 'stet' instead. Or maybe that's just used in proof corrections for printing.

That's not even written backwards, never mind the opposite meaning. This was a scenario you just couldn't win.

Mine are Osiris and Isis, brother and sister - but not as incestuous. Ozzy and Issy.

Good god no! out of the 167 songs they've released I would listen to that about 134th. I've got it and I doubt I've played it in 30 years. There are just so many better tracks. It sounds just like your description would suggest though. That should never be someone's introduction to Rush. Never.

Beautiful lady.

She is VERY cute, he couldn't resist. :)

Mayor of Kidsgrove does sound like a euphemism for Head Teacher though, but hopefully not.

I enjoyed that. Maybe if the dodgy necklace wearing Brexit hardman had brayed more loudly then he could have become Mayor of Kidsgrove, like Jonathan Gullis just has (I had to look it up because your article didn't satisfy my need to hear about him struggling for all eternity).

It would seem you're also a cat maven.

Yes, these days it's rare to witness something so natural, pure and unadulterated by the media. #blessed

I don't know what you mean, it's totally authentic, it says so in the hashtag.

Or, perhaps more aptly.
"Corporal Clegg, had a wooden leg."
