Some of the others around our larger team, though - whew! Can't tell if their crew are working if they can't look at them directly!

True. In my industry there were a lot of people in managerial roles in 2020 whose advancement was mostly due to playing office politics. Since productivity is all that matters in our current WFH situation, those people are desperate to get back in the office.
