Bee sting allergies are no joke, and thankfully no kids had anaphylaxis. But it seems preferable to the buzzing, flying things we have worry about in US schools.

Here's an English-language article about what happened:

20 first-grade children, 2 teachers stung by hornets at school
Twenty first-grade children and two teachers were stung by hornets on the grounds of an elementary school in Ome City, Tokyo, on Thursday. Glad to hear doctors in RI are speaking up for transit! This is a major issue for our patients throughout the US.

You don't have to try, they didn't get a nice thing. They didn't make a choice, either, this was an internal LDP competition.

Can you share the article? I'm not sure that VA salaries are so bad relative to the market (for internists/geris at least), but I haven't worked in the community.
If they're getting salaries from USAJobs, those don't include market pay adjustments. Also, not dealing with insurance is wonderful.

Check on your neighbors. Check on your family. Sometimes an AC stops working. Sometimes people end up outside out of necessity. Paying just a little bit extra attention to how someone is doing could save their life. This may require you to put down your phone which, we know, but you can do this.
