You know how sometimes you copy text from a webpage and some ad material shows up in the middle of it, so you end up with a nontraditional version of "O Death" that has a couple of jarring shifts in tone and subject (even though the first line of the ad weirdly has the right meter)?

And estrangement is a thing that really has to be done from an uncomfortably close distance.

Here's what you wrote. Nothing about commenting on homophobia. Just Thiel is gay and he's evil, and Vance is one of "his boys." Your other explanation, after someone asked, doesn't make it *not* inflammatory to talk this way. Which I guess you're going to keep on doing since you think it's so clear.

Bay Area: so much special SF Neo-Futurists theater real soon! This weekend, our mysterious site-specific HOLE. Next month, the first ever BLACKEST WRENCH on Juneteenth; then, our reliably fabulous Pride special! It's all here: www.sfneofuturists.org (and I'm back in the regular show June 13)

My two best self-published comics, BUSYBODY #1 and NINE FACES OF NOTHING, are now for sale as e-books on itch.io instead of the crappy place where they used to be. There are still a few paper copies of these available, but I'm unlikely to print more. eli-the-bishop.itch.io

Perfect series of faces as Dern's character starts to realize "oh no, could it be... he just doesn't give a shit??"

This is the start of my 4th year writing & performing with the San Francisco Neo-Futurists. Other than meeting my spouse, there aren't many life changes that have been so important to me. It's a joy & an honor to know these people & make stuff with them. That's all! www.sfneofuturists.org

Because it's important to imagine that a better world is possible, here's my homage to the cover of STARSLAYER (THE LOG OF THE JOLLY ROGER) #2 (1982), after Mike Grell. #comiccovercover #fanart #coloredpencils #spacepirates

Revised the coloring a little, after figuring out one of the 50 things that was bothering me. This is still a ridiculous approach of course—don't do any of these things! (unless you want to)

Got an urge to draw some goofy drama, so here's my homage to the cover of CAPTAIN MARVEL #51 (1977), after Al Milgrom & Irv Watanabe (original at right). I took the liberty of recoloring Mercurio and creating a more intimate fighting style. #comiccovercover #fanart #gratuitouscursive

I wonder if Batman ever manages to zip up to a high precipice that he can't figure out how to get down from, so he just yells and yells until Superman shows up to help, in the middle of the night. Unrelated: here's a picture of a darling cat who lives with me

A little further down, the same ad reappeared, showing that the same cheerful gentleman had adapted effortlessly to the new machine-led regime.

I thought you might enjoy this screenshot, in which the ad service helpfully provided an illustration of the gentry a.k.a. the pinnacle of evolution.

Hey SF Bay Area friends! Among the million events at
#sfsketchfest this month, this one on Jan. 22 has me in it with 5 other Neo-Futurists doing some ridiculous things. It's BITS OUT, a special edition of The Infinite Wrench for Sketchfest. Tickets: sfsketchfest2025.sched.com/event/1rbR0

A while back, I made this collage of all of the exclamations that were used in issues #140-150 of Swamp Thing, written by Mark Millar. My only reason was that I was bored & irritated by Millar, but it was weirdly satisfying and now I feel like it kind of works as a general statement about things.

At least they have someone to talk to besides this guy. (If you know, you know)

New personal goal: to be as unconcerned about the lack of demand for my creative efforts, and their uneven quality, as the apple tree next to my parents' back patio is.
