Sure thing.

Cultural standstill is real.
November 24, 2025 at 10:33 PM
I will watch it but I just feel exhausted at this point. It took so long to come out.

It's also a movie that wasn't really necessary in terms of the larger universe, but we got Andor out of it so I'll give it that much.

The soundtrack is quite good as well.

Titanic is still more impressive than these massive monstrosities.

The latest game was Quidditch Champions and it contributed to a $100M loss for WB.

I fully expect a drop off when people realize it's the same story with a C-tier cast and five extra hours of padding on such a short book. It'll be as tedious as the Hobbit movies, likely worse because the source material is flimsy as it is.

Yep, and the few successes have been entirely new things, not reheated millennial leftovers.
November 23, 2025 at 7:02 PM
Those people still love the movies. They're not going to tune in long term for something they already have and know the conclusion to.
November 23, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Which is funny because even Disney is saying that streaming is dead.

Facebook has been nothing but a net negative for humanity.

HBO doesn't realize the biggest success stories are coming from shows in which the audience doesn't already know the ending.
November 23, 2025 at 1:21 AM
Yeah, but the normies love the movies. That will be their biggest barrier aside from the JKR stuff.
November 23, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Yep, those creatives did a lot of heavy lifting and without them the franchise wouldn't be what it is today. No show is going to be able to recapture that, especially with all the baggage associated with it.
November 23, 2025 at 12:13 AM
The cast already got paid anyway.
November 22, 2025 at 10:54 PM
Key thing to note about that - it's all based on the very accessible movies.
November 22, 2025 at 8:05 PM
They gutted Ellie from the version of her we got in the game so that certainly didn't help either.
November 22, 2025 at 7:40 PM
The flip side is killing off a big name seems to be suicide for viewership (see: The Last of Us) so maybe they were thinking about that sort of fallout too.
November 22, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Feels like all of the adult characters suffered this, and I wouldn't be surprised if their plots were dragged out to expedite filming when dealing with the kids.
November 22, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Yep, they're marketed on the regular as well and they will be ramping that up further next year for the anniversary. Not to mention everything even remotely adjacent is based on those films with the theme parks, exhibits, events, etc.
November 22, 2025 at 6:41 PM
The fact that the CEO is already wafting around about their filming timeline says a lot, I think. Note that this same thing happened with one of the Thrones prequels that was supposed to film "with short gaps" in between.
November 22, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Exactly. I'm reminded of when I was younger and the Star Wars Special Edition came out. After seeing the first one my parents got us the old VHS because it was cheaper and we could have them at home forever. I see that exact situation happening here because it's not like the movies have gone away.

And yet pets are more sustainable than a single billionaire.
November 22, 2025 at 12:28 PM
That and people aren't going to wait around 10+ years when they can watch the films on the same service.
November 22, 2025 at 3:32 AM
FWIW Velma was always getting two seasons regardless.
