Probably not. I think it has a lot to do with which state you’re in as well. I live in a very progressive blue state, strong employment laws so generally employment conditions are good

Yes, you’re right, lose your job and lose your healthcare. I’m not originally from the US and that one point gets me every time, I think free healthcare is a universal human right

I’ve not heard of any place that uses any other system other than statutory sick leave and I’ve worked in 5 countries, I’m glad to see that there are other systems, but as you say it’s not standard

I was replying to the op as they made a sweeping generalization that was patently untrue and was using my experience as an example as to that. Employment conditions do differ between states, I am lucky to live in one of the blue states. Btw, I’m not American but live in the US, don’t generalize

I must live in some weird parallel universe USA, ‘cause I get 5 weeks paid leave/year. Have accumulated 6 months sick leave over 8 years while still taking a ton of sick days off in that time. Have free healthcare (ok my work pays it) have taken paternity leave and get loads of other benefits

90s London, was in lots of lock in’s especially Earls Court area. Prince of Tek was a favourite. The Sunday afternoon lock ins were the best though
