November 29, 2025 at 10:16 PM

Same

To be fair, I don't think something has to be real in order to make a living selling it

November 28, 2025 at 3:57 PM

I guess we could say llms are on par with polyethylene or mosfets. They're cool and all and sure they're everywhere. Just one more tool. The worrying part is that plenty of people are throwing money at them in the hopes that actual ai happens within a few years
November 28, 2025 at 12:06 PM
It is, of course. USA is in America. It's on the name and everything, didn't you realise?
November 28, 2025 at 12:00 PM
Now the problem I see with this ai trend is that it doesn't really gets things done. It can help with advertising and produce bloat text for seo. But can't clean your toilet, help the elderly and infants, do agricultural work... It sure can't drive and yet people are getting fired.

Hey, if it really helped reduce labour it would be a positive contribution to society. Yes, at first it would mean more unemployment but that's only a bad thing in capitalism. If the same stuff gets done with less work everybody should get more leisure time

Every other category of the market is in a recession.
That can't possibly be because we're misallocating investment
November 28, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Yep, a revolution just like nfts and the metaverse
November 28, 2025 at 3:23 AM
Or don't actually need it. Just like I don't have a clue about how to use video editing software, most people won't need an llm
November 28, 2025 at 3:17 AM
It doesn't seem safe to sell them a miraculous tool. Here we are in yet another financial bubble
November 28, 2025 at 3:16 AM
Not really on most users. It's on the hype merchants. You can't expect people who don't understand the inner workings of other software to easily realise the a.i. that media praises is not actually intelligent

We haven't settled on either u·sia·no or u·sa·í·no. It seems portuguese speakers prefer the former
November 28, 2025 at 2:40 AM
More likely to be american portuguese.
Of course american english is one of the four meanings listed there. And doubtlessly includes canadian speakers.
I don't understand how you could deny the first meaning
November 28, 2025 at 2:33 AM
It just is. What word do you use instead?
Definition of AMERICAN

All the ones I know do.
Could you find someone who doesn't?
November 28, 2025 at 12:32 AM
You'll be thrilled to learn that some of us spanish speakers have started saying usiano. I've never been able to pronounce estadounidense in one go
November 28, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Yep. The country with a placeholder name really needs some word to identify it.
