Foot position is fairly meaningless, red dots are great for old guys, and the only people you're going to end up using your skills against in California are your fellow Democrats, so I'm glad you're arming up. I'm old enough to remember the LA riots. You are too.

I was born in Orrville Ohio. Few years back, the corporate execs there paid to tear down slums. Turned it into a park. Relocated my uncle & aunt in a nice house. They know what the good life is. Clean, safe neighborhoods, big yards. And they're willing to pay.

And yeah, big back yards are wealth. Not having needles & human feces on your front step is wealth. Letting your kids ride their bikes around until the street lights come on w/o worry is wealth. Not replacing car windows from smash & grabs is wealth.

Cost of living is a divisor. If you make 50% more, but your rent & groceries are twice as high? You're not actually richer. There's a great scene in Twain's "Connecticut Yankee" where he tries to explain this. I'm having flashbacks to that now. I understood it as a kid.

Next 12 years are going to be tough for ya. Y'know, hifi and jazz are good, soothing hobbies for old dudes. I'd recommend a coupla' Tannoys and a steady diet of Kenny Burrell & Barney Kessel.
