We never put ours up until December, usually near the start now for our grandkids. But I get why some do it earlier. If it makes someone happy to put it up in October than its all good. There's so much misery in the world I wouldn't criticise anyone for wanting a bit of festive joy in their home.

I'm relieved for you that he's that way. I'm assuming that if he's spending his time sitting then that means you can get on with things fairly well. It must be terrible though to see him slipping further away from you like that x
