Late addition of fruit without pasteurization is just begging for bottle bombs. Good luck with this, I look forward to reading of the time-temperature adventure!

So are you thinking low and slow for a whole batch, or something more like a tunnel pasteurization idea after bottling?

A quick trip back would be kinda pricey, darn it!
May 29, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Go back! Google Translate says it's only closed on Mondays?

That cactus certainly implies some sort of south-of-the-US-border connection. I would visit the hell out of a place called Sanchez Makgeolli!

Now you have to make it at home!

Any good news is welcome, but shareholder economics has broken the connection between business and community. It's good that the shareholders see what is happening (Target, etc.). It's good that we can force change. But, no morality here, no justice here, just bottom line. I hate being cynical.

They just say words.

How can we save ourselves and de-monetize just spewing words?

Holy crap: www.imdb.com/title/tt0708...

I gotta get more cultured.

"...used it to criticize the decline of Roman heroism and the willingness of the populace to trade civic engagement for basic needs and entertainment."

I have always thought that streaming TV and fast food are complicit in our fractured community. Now what's on Netflix again?

Now I'm thinking, peach wine? How wrong can a goat be?

A lot of mosses can dry out to a brown crisp, sit for a month or more, and then "revive" with some added water. I don't know if that makes them more mysterious, but maybe with some cryptic notes about how to resurrect them?
May 13, 2025 at 8:47 PM
Paywalled, alas.
May 13, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Serial killer vibe?
May 13, 2025 at 2:48 PM
um, can we bulldoze while occupied to just cover up a bunch of mess all at once?
May 10, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Now I'm even more envious that I didn't get a chance to try your brew.

There are more makgeolli breweries in the US now, since 2014, and one in Seattle that I have not visited yet:

The juxtaposition of the straws with the urn and the ancient Mesopotamian recipe kills me. It looks and sounds a little like makgeolli that uses a nuruk starter - is that what the bappir might resemble, a kind of nuruk? Crazy. I am envious to try it!

I love the orange fingers, don't want to know more.

... but by the end of the DS rhyme, it turns out that the [Pope] wasn't so bad after all.

Does it matter? I'm still baffled that the Pope's still a thing.

If I were restricted to a small space, thus perpetually bored, and was never presented with anything painful to touch, no stinging bugs or biting animals, then I'd spend way more time exploring things, too. Dunno.

A little scary - I read that if he hadn't succeeded this second round, the far-right party would have a good shot.

Interesting! To get herd immunity for measles, you need something like 80-90% vaccinated, right? I would have thought that the effectiveness would be inversely proportional to the needed vaccination rate for herd immunity. Measles must be freaking contagious!!

Hah! Amazing looking at the old videos. I was a little afraid to watch, but they aren't too bad. I don't know Paul Jabara but I certainly didn't expect a drag number - what a pleasant surprise!

Around mark 1:07, I thought there was going to be a twist and they were about to kiss! I am a little disappointed, but this is indeed (still) marvelous!!
