FreeBSD does have ptrace(2) which should allow it if both the processes are owned by the same user, though FreeBSD is probably quite a bit down on the list of important places it needs to run.

That happened to me at a conference some years back, I ended up still attending and asked the guy handling talks about it, found out that they somehow had made a mistake and not sent the mail to me.

But like I did not know that was the case beforehand and it feels pretty bad.

I have used for quite a while on my FreeBSD box it is pretty nice and just works.

There was a period where it happened quite often for me, but recently it has been fine, so I think it might just be kinda random.
