On Sunday, I took a commercial flight to Kipnuk, the Western Alaska village hit hardest by the remnants of Typhoon Halong.
What I saw and heard there was simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring.

A group of Ketchikan locals announced today that they’ve purchased the Ward Cove cruise ship dock from Fairbanks’ John Binkley and Ketchikan brothers Dave and Andrew Spokely.

They say they want to lead a “transformation” of the Ward Cove area, a mostly industrial area north of town.
