I'm only happy if other events grow. I would love for the focus of the discussions about ESA to be focused on safety issues that arise, how past ones are/have been handled and if the event is safe.

You're allowed to vent, dislike them and think they're shit at their job, but the misinfo is bad

Not worth it? Maybe. A scam? They never lie about what it is, it's made so that you can support them financially. I won't, some will. If not enough people bother with it then they might not do it again. They're running a business.

Yes, they're probably in financial difficulty, I don't know, is that a point to call them out on? It's their job. To me the extra badge equates to a patreon tier. Hopefully there's a nice package of stuff that comes with it, but if there isn't and people wanna buy it, then 🤷

The friends only events, I'm not sure what you're referring to, so:
Sum of Besties - it's a PSN x Speedfam event, and it's mostly friends *first*. It's strictly for fun and doesn't even raise money (except for the Marathon Alliance event we joined)

I am fairly sure reconsiderations are being made by both sides, but I am not internal to BSG and UKSG so I only know what gets to me by talking to organisers I consider my friends, and by marathons in Europe sharing their safety information around with eachother

Safety wise, they are clearly trying to clean it all up at the event. Again, never perfect, but they're trying and some things have noticeably improved.

I work for events that broadcast on ESA and events that don't. Most of what you said is stuff any event would do in a heartbeat.

The tier tickets are a way to support them. I won't buy one, some people like to support with more money and will buy one.
This is tiring, focus on the real problems.

So did the events get TOLD to move, or did they do it out of their own choice?

Do you know that or do you not? You ask people that work at these events to shed some light.

Last I heard, Skenmy is responsible for safeguarding (I don't really know how it works fully in there) but he also deals with many other events, no?
What did you get banned for?

I don't particularly want to side with anyone, I think everyone has their fair of shit behaviour and mismanagement, but imo, if ESA doesn't "know what they're doing" then the rest of the orgs are completely fucked with very few exceptions.
