Banner: my life has always been a continuous struggle with ill health and ambition, and I have mastered neither.
Proud of my (comparatively) small town’s mural in recognition of ADA35 / Disability Pride month. Everyone walking by has a chance to learn something about disability. And there’s a visual description QR code!

Highly recommend this read - published in 2021 it even discusses how Covid affected hospitals, etc.

But, this is good because smart people have already thought through this issue. Medicare for all: a Citizens Guide was published in 2021 by Dr. Abdul Al Syed. It provides both a look at the problem and potential solutions. I encourage you to grab a copy. Let’s move the needle forward in this moment.

A reminder that “fake” Christmas trees are in fact accessible Christmas trees. We stopped with the “real” tree the year I became physically disabled. No needles to vacuum up, no crouching into a tight space to fill the water. Packs away for next year. And it’s so pretty!

I was gonna say America doesn’t deserve Dolly Parton, but that’s the type of cutesy cynicism I want to move away from. Dolly Parton is a national hero for her Imagination Library program. She has *publicly supported* Trans Rights. We all deserve the type of love and support Dolly offers. And pie.

July 27th will always remind me that human beings are wired to change. It is:

The day I stopped drinking alcohol in 2011 (12 years!)

The day my mirrorbox experiment paid off, and my left shoulder began to move after 2 months’ paralysis in 2020
