Always a great sign for how things are going in your country when 21-year-olds are like “hey, I innovated a system to play bagpipes in tear gas”
Jack Duffy attaches a respirator to his bagpipes to play through tear gas. “I always play it whenever the police retreat because it's like, ‘You fucking ran while we stayed,’” he says.

Will be extremely ironic if Starmer is eventually brought down by the one thing he could never ever do, which is listen to the left of the party

So the fucking Windsors can kick Andy out of the literal royal family but Lab are too cowardly to kick Mandy out of the lords?
@karinsmythmp.bsky.social : "The ideal action is for Peter Mandelson to resign [from the Lords]"

Shameful.

Labour allowed Mandelson to resign from the party rather than kicking him out & they are now extending the same courtesy to him in the Lords

in light of the most spectacular failed appeasement attempt since his hero Neville Chamberlain, Reel Politik calls for the immediate resignation of disgraced former human rights lawyer Sir Keir Starmer.

I see people talking about this a lot as if adult children are cutting off their parents because they were abusive to them as children, and I’m sure that’s sometimes the case, but in my experience it’s because they continued to be abusive manipulative fucks when their children are adults as well
"I worry that we are rapidly moving towards a society of self-absorbed and entitled individuals who have no time, affection or care for their parents." Letter in the Times from a 'relationship and family therapist' in response to Sarah Ditum's article attacking kids who have cut off abusive parents

Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either War or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

We bought kiddo stardew valley for xmas. I’ve fallen into the trap of helping get her set up, and then watch her sit in the spa while my chickens starve to death

Here’s the story for those wondering. What brought it to light was a missing persons case. Turns out the police ran over a guy, then just buried him out back of the jail without bothering to notify next of kin even though there was ample ID on the victim’s body.

I know our major media outlets are busy doing 10 stories per day about Ivy League campus intrigue but I feel like the fact that 215 bodies were discovered in a pit behind a jail in Jackson MS earlier this year probably merited a mention or two. Maybe even a few follow up questions.
