4 years later, she's working in Osaka as a "ronin", basically a crook-for-hire. Appearing aloof, standoffish, or even arrogant, she holds a reputation as being effective but prickly. At home, she's a dorky punk fangirl playing big-sis to her found family - but her trauma still casts a long shadow.

Enter Subject ID#308 "Bajirisuku", or Baji for short. One of two people born with a gene that grants immunity to implant rejection, she is the first spellcaster in 200 years thanks to extreme cybernetic enhancement - enhancements that were forced upon her. Baji escaped, but without her memories.

So basically, a fantasy universe collapsed and spat out it's humanoid inhabitants onto mid-20th century Earth, and the corpse of the magic of that world was turned into gemstones, dubbed arcstones. 200 years later, these arcstones define the modern world through power generation and computing power.

Gotta love kitbashing cold-war era weapons. It's like a cheatcode for making things look sci-fi.
