I didn’t know there is a popn around the desert museum from a few being released there in the 70s. A mtDNA study revealed they are hybrids, Ctenosaura conspicuosa × macrolopha. iNat obs shows they are infiltrating Tuscon a lil bit.

Not a monarch, this is the Queen, Danaus gilippus. Same genus though

That’s not Dipsosaurus dorsalis, looks like Ctenosaura sp. Not native to AZ so I hope you saw this in the desert museum
