Lowered anxiety levels a
bit with a long walk on a beach yesterday morning with my nephew, looking for birds and fossils. It was cold but sunny. If you are able to, take in some nature and fresh air, it helps. #VitaminN

Beautiful morning spent birding - we spotted an early female red-winged blackbird. 🪶 #birds

Repost with a photo of yours that would make a good album cover.

Ginger-bug day four is looking quite bubbly! Easiest method I’ve used so far, will post Instagram link I saw it in next post.

I look at my flower photos A LOT over the winter - it is good for my mental health - it is lovely to share them and also see those of others so thanks for sharing. 🙂

Beautiful weather to soak up some much needed forest zen this morning.

While I do grow a lot of native plant varieties to support insect biodiversity, my annual cutting garden is also very popular. The late blooming zinnias and open-center dahlias are very popular in late summer. 🦋

Just came across this Great Blue Heron photo in my library from August 2023. He had a heck of time trying to swallow that fish! 😬 #birds 🪶

One of my favourite spring blooming #NativePlants that I search out each May to admire is Wood Betony (Pedicularis canadensis). It is hemi-parasitic and often attaches to the roots of host plants, including June grass, Little Bluestem and Pennsylvania Sedge.

Love this - when I used to grow tomatillos, I would always miss a few and then find their little skeletons ☠️ in the garden at the end of winter. 🌱
January 4, 2025 at 4:45 PM
Another flashback #FlowerReport with 4 more dahlias seedlings that made the cut to grow again in 2025 😊 I’m really looking forward to having a larger patch of seedlings this coming season! Any gardener can try flower breeding, and it is particularly easy with #dahlias 🌱

Many of the ‘winter windowsill’ zinnias sown just back in mid-Nov have started to bloom! Coming up into the sunroom to enjoy soon, I had no idea zinnias would grow so happily indoors under grow lights (saw it suggested on instagram). A bit of winter flower fun. #zinnias 🌱 #FlowerReport

We also had SUPERCUTE baby skunks this summer 🦨🦨 safely viewed here through the sunroom window. #wildlife

And finally December, my favourite bird was this sleeping Eastern Screech Owl.

The best thing about November is the start of ‘weird duck’ season - had to go with four - an American Coot, three Red-Breasted Mergansers, a pair of Common Goldeneye’s and three Hooded Mergansers.
