From my youngest son about the “Big Beautiful Bill”:
“I just read the Big Beautiful Bill end to end and it’s Very Very Very bad. Like, easily the most comprehensively bad piece of legislation I’ve ever heard of. They really are trying their best to do every bad thing they can manage all at once.”

The best way to end a race - to hear your coach cheering you on…and then, it turns out, she was filming, too. Go be someone’s champion today! #orangetheory #fitafter50

There is a popular narrative right now that merit is measured by money amassed. I agree with DuBois. Merit for a nation is not about how many billionaires are in leadership but how few children, poor people, and refugees are suffering. We, as a nation, are not operating in “greatness”.

Our diversity - life experience, beliefs, religion, politics - is our SUPERPOWER. Our diversity makes our companies and boards and schools and faith institutions and communities better.

I’m on a running journey… Saturday and today I ran 5 miles outside. Today the numbers came out from our #orangetheory 0.25 mile challenge. Check out my time! 4th out of EVERY woman of all ages (into the teens)! #fitafter50

Today it was the 0.25 mile challenge at #orangetheory. I chose to run at 11 on the treadmill the entire time (I’ve never run at 11 for more than 15 seconds). This is my reminder: you can do hard things! You can do harder things than you think. Go do something hard!

It’s that time, again. Join us today (Sunday) on Zoom from 2-3 PM PST for conversations about what kindness can and should look like - towards self, individuals, communities. #projectkindness

Today was the annual #girlscoutsofwesternwashington annual retreat! Honored to serve. This is year 11!

Are you an educator in the Puget Sound region who plays basketball? Register to play. Are you someone who is interested in supporting community but you don’t play? Register to attend.

Today I got to lead a conversation with leaders at Clark College and then deliver professional development about culture and community. I love this school and every opportunity I have to work with this team! Also, even though the rain was horrible, the rainbow was amazing on the way home!

I feel strongly about investing in others, whether they have worked “hard enough” or not. I refuse to prevent people with “no boots or straps to pull up” from having access to resources. I will ALWAYS err on the side of compassion.

Tomorrow it’s “Walk with Erin” at ASHHO Cultural Community Center. Usually we do the walk on the first Saturday, but I was at Harvard last Saturday. Join us from 11:00 - noon for a walk and networking. Then stay for lunch at Runia’s Soul Cafe.

Lessons from my workshop today: 1. As an advocate, you can’t help anyone or be good to your compatriots if you’re not taking care of yourself; and 2. We can’t just disrupt/destroy a system/structure without imagining a better way. DREAMS and VISION and strategy are required.

Harvard was AMAZING! I needed this time with educators of color as much as I had something to offer in the way of training. The focus of the conference was “critical hope.” My determination: hope is not a wish; It’s a mindset that requires practice and discipline and community. #aocc #Harvard

BREAKING NEWS! Walk with Erin will be postponed until next Saturday (March 8), because I’ve been asked to speak at Harvard Saturday. Not doing a keynote; just a workshop, but still… It’s Harvard! Join us for the walk next Saturday!

This is your reminder, especially in the midst of the chaos, to do all you can to take care of yourself. You cannot care for others if you haven’t invested in yourself. Today - OrangeTheory to start the day, sushi with mom, lunch n learn about Ramadan with Khurshida.

Had mtg at a restaurant and just “happened” to run into a friend I haven’t seen for months (who had, apparently, just spoken my name). Delivered keynote on resilience at the Seventh Day Adventist conference hosted by my dear friend, Bill. ❤️ to my friend who came to hear me on her lunch break.

What do I do when I’m anxious? I run. Today in Orange Theory Tread 50, I didn’t run super fast, but I also did not stop once. It was a solid 47:16 of running. What are you doing to get/stay strong?

I had a conversation with a teacher earlier today about whether or not it’s worth being on social media. Found this earlier on Facebook during one of the few times I visited there. This is exactly why I’m here. #lovematters

You are bigger than any individual box anyone could use to identify you. Embrace all the pieces that make you who you are. You. Are. Enough.
