A real piece of work in progress. Comics and music and wrestling and soccer and nature and, look, probably family stuff. Almost Toronto. (he, him)

It was a good, fun read!

Interested to see how it will translate to film.

Birthday chat this week?

Spent a fortune at @thebeguiling.bsky.social & regret nothing. Can’t wait to dive into comics from cartoonist geniuses one & all: Oima, Urushibara, @davidlapham.bsky.social, @gustaffovargas.bsky.social + Walsh, Otero & Malkasian. (Today was why I couldn’t make a Favourite Books of 2025 list yet.) 📚

Really enjoyed this one from @jeremyperrodeau.bsky.social & am confused why more people aren’t talking about it. Won the Fauve des Lyceens at Angouleme. Nice English translation from Canadian publisher @blackpanelpress.bsky.social. blackpanelpress.com/en/product/p...

Went out for dinner last night (Newmarket’s Made in Mexico; hell yeah cauliflower burritos with sides of tortilla soup y frijoles) and appreciated the beautiful religious iconography. 🤼

I saw three blue jays today, and I need this game to end so I can finally know if they were good omens or portents of doom.

If anyone is allowed to explain moths to you, it is Thistle followed very distantly by me. (Moths are cool. Let them devour your beautiful coat if they want to, I say.)

A propos of a certain lil’baseball game, here is a nice piece I saw last week in Toronto at Queen’s Park by Kory Parkin (Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory).

This was unnecessarily cruel, factual, and direct.

I’m not an entomologist or spider-man (amazing, spectacular, or otherwise), but I feel like this might not be anatomically correct? Where my arthropodic skeleton experts at?

Stellar’s sea eagles at the Toronto Zoo with a bonus barn owl from the Mountsberg Raptor Centre west of the city.

Very dramatic building, that Queen’s Park.

Doing a work thing at the seat of power of the Ontario government means i get to see some pretty paintings.

Dashiell the Havanese is stressing me out by always shoving his head through stair pickets.

Hell yeah cedar waxwing—a personal fave, and a frequent visitor to my backyard, but they tend to be too high I. The neighbour’s tree or too skittish for a good photo.

Love these guys, despite/because of how terrifying they look. Never been stung, and they are quite charismatic though I can understand why others are terrified.🐝

Look, I get that Superman is *probably* the bigger contribution to culture, but because of Keith Giffen's LSH 5YL work, I will always have the softest of spots for Brainy.

Oct'25 preorders from Lunar/PRH/Viz catalogues:
- more Lapham (both another Good as Dead and his Bad Idea book with Matt Kindt writing that I didn't know about because it's a Bad Idea book);
- the latest Asadora from Naoki Urasawa; and
- the new one from The Master (I LOVED Bowling with Corpses).

Me and my wife were childless for an entire afternoon so we went for a 14-km hike in a Markham portion of Rouge National Urban Park and, I am thrilled to report, saw so many cute sneks. The tiny ones. Dekay’s and, pictured, red-bellied species. The Rouge forever. 🐍
