Cijfers + MAGA = Moeilijk.

I think I could have a company underperform an another go off the rails while I sleep.

Aye, right. The same excuse Putin uses to his military into neighbouring countries.

I do wish they would treat this as an opportunity to pivot rather than as a situation to be managed. But I do also understand some caution as to what that would mean for Ukraine in the short term.

I hope you are right about the people.

But perhaps and I hope you're right, our leaders should lead from a position of principle and that through showing leadership they create a support.

Broadly speaking I don't take issue with that direction. Frankly I'm in favour. But it might be a hard shift to pull off, not so much at the EU/NATO level but at the national level. Many of the leaders are in a very precarious position domestically.

Europeans who quite understandably want a stronger response from European leaders should seriously consider strengthening Europe as a political and military block.

Put our leaders in a position where they don’t have to worry about what a Trump backlash might mean for Ukraine going forward.
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)

Strong statement from (probable next Dutch PM) Jetten:

“Maduro was a cruel dictator.… Many Venezuelans will be relieved …
At the same time: this is not the way. The bombing of Caracas, the capture of Maduro … directly contradicts international law. A precedent with major risks… the EU must step up”

You do understand that they could end up trowing Ukraine under the bus if they come in too hot, right?
