Yup, it’s the best of the sequels *by far*. That’s not saying much, though, given it’s the start of a thoroughly broken trilogy. All three films have to be, as Jar Jar would say, “pitty okie-day” or there’s no point in watching any one entry. Abrams and Disney didn’t come close to pulling that off.

“One last adventure” these characters will be back in 2040 to pass the torch to a new group of kids in a new series called Strangest Thing.

Saros because I loved Returnal. But I’m nervous about the new shield mechanic. Returnal worked for me in part because there was no parrying nonsense.

William Powell is such a legend. I prefer his pre-Code films like Manhattan Melodrama and Lawyer man, though.

Maybe this will be the nudge Cameron needs to move on from this series.

I got the most recommendations from 270 (the PS2 one). And not just PS2 games like King Kong, Mister Mosquito, Hitman: Blood Money, and Indigo Prophecy, but also Bubble Bobble (Game Gear — probably a Nick rec but don’t have the mag on hand) and, of all things, McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure.

If Greg Daniels cares about this show, he needs to jump in and fix it. Otherwise it'll deserve to be cancelled.

PS - Anyone else thirsty for a delicious Pepsi after finishing this season?

By contrast, The Office put out banger after banger in seasons that had up to 28 episodes. If this is the best they could do with a blank slate, maybe they should hang it up.

The problems are even more dire given how un-demanding "TV" production is now. The Paper will never need to make more than 10 episodes per season, and the seasons likely won't even be every year.

The final episode is the best, with compelling romantic interplay between Ned and Mare. But it also exemplifies the problems, with a very prominent storyline for attention-grabbing Esmeralda, who makes even this episode a success and failure in equal measure.
