Hmmm, me thinks the diorite may have been trucked in from somewhere else. As this cementium block would attest.

I'm bad at explaining metallic luster to students. It just seems intuitive to me... I say "It looks like metal" and show examples. It's clear some are not connecting with this seemingly simple concept. Do people just not interact with metallic things anymore? Suggestions to improve?

A selection of quartz vein rocks successfully back in the lab. Time to start cutting them up! ⚒️

It doesn't look like much, but this is a place where a main zone Mother Lode vein daylights near the town of Jackson, CA. Just over this hill is a highway, construction of which has pushed these quartz vein blocks aside.

Fluid Inclusion folks (I know this will get a lot of hits). I've only worked with Linkam stages, but always intrigued by the USGS gas-flow. Alas, at my new gig I have funds but for only one of them. Which way should I go?
