I think this is the tweet that lives most rent free in my head I say sexual librarian to myself at least once a week

Album 40: Bryter Layter by Nick Drake

Another one I'm a big fan of, I hadn't heard of Nick Drake before but I'm a sucker for a singer/songwriter that starts including horns and woodwinds. Favorites are Hazey Jane II and One Of These Things First

Album 39: Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips

I like this one a lot, normally I prefer songs that focus on the lyrics more but I'm so blown away by the soundscape the album creates that it overrides that preference. Favorites are Fight Test and Do You Realize??

Album 38: Tonight's the Night by Neil Young

This one hits hard, very rawly emotional, and very sparse which adds to the effect. Favorites are Speakin' Out and Borrowed Tune

Album 37: Tigermilk by Belle and Sebastian

I like the first few songs on this one but it gets old quickly for me. Favorites are Expectations and She's Losing It

Wow that's impressive considering I don't even have a coinbase account

Album 36: Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

I tried to give this album a fair shot but I just don't like the red hot chili peppers, never really have, so I didn't like the album much either

Album 35: Morrison Hotel by The Doors

I really wanted to like this one and there are songs that I like a lot including Roadhouse Blues and Ship of Fools, but the songs I don't like as much end up feeling pretty grating to the point that the album is just 'meh' overall for me

Album 34: Superfly by Curtis Mayfield

Similar to my feelings about the other Mayfield album I've gotten, this is alright but I also don't love it. I'm not sure if my problem is with funk as a genre or Mayfield specifically, but I guess we'll see going forward. Favorites are Pusherman and Superfly

Album 33: After the Gold Rush by Neil Young

This one is really good, I was already a fan of CSNY but I hadn't listened to much of any of their solo stuff. It's not quite all bangers but it's pretty close, favorites are Southern Man and Don't Let It Bring You Down
May 29, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Album 32: Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion

I didn't like this one much at all, the guitar for most of the second half of the album is pretty good and that's about all the nice things I have to say about it lol. Can't Stop and Eyeballin are pretty good
May 28, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Album 31: Stardust by Willie Nelson

This one is very pleasant, all the arrangements are minimalistic but Nelson's voice is great and they're all classic pop songs. Favorites are Blue Skies and Don't Get Around Much Anymore

Album 30: There's No Place Like America Today by Curtis Mayfield

I thought this was alright. I really like it when it's a little more energetic, especially the horns sections, but when it slows down it loses me a bit. Favorite songs are So in Love and Love to the People.

Album 29: Guero by Beck

I feel very meh about this one. I like the first few songs, especially E-Pro and Qué Onda Guero, but then it just kinda drones on and I don't get much out of it after that
May 23, 2025 at 2:48 PM
Album 28: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly

This one is famous for side 2 being one long song, but I actually found myself preferring side 1. I like My Mirage and Termination, but overall it was pretty meh imo

Album 27: At San Quentin by Johnny Cash

I came into this not having listened to much Johnny Cash before and I enjoyed it a lot. The live format works really well, it gives the whole thing a tangible human quality. Favorites are Starkville City Jail and San Quentin
May 21, 2025 at 5:10 PM
Album 26: Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette

I appreciate the emotion and energy this has, but I just can't get past not really liking her voice, and the instrumentals are whatever for me. All I Really Want and Right Through You are pretty good.

Album 25: Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy

I've had Public Enemy on my to-listen list for a while and this didn't disappoint. I love the sample-heavy style, my favorites are Brothers Gonna Work It Out and Who Stole The Soul? but I also have a soft spot for the pettiness in Incident At 66.6 FM
May 19, 2025 at 4:54 PM
the whole project so far. Favorites are Come On! Feel the Illinois! and The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! (2/2)
May 16, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Day 23: Heroes by David Bowie

We're back after a brief hiatus, this one didn't quite land for me. It sounds nice enough, and the instrumental soundscape aspect of side 2 was interesting, but I didn't find myself wanting to listen again. Favorites are Beauty and the Beast and Heroes
May 15, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Day 22: New Boots and Panties!! by Ian Dury

I didn't like this one much at all, it's probably strongest in the songs from the pov of characters but even then I didn't find myself wanting to relisten to any of them. I thought My Old Man and If I Was with a Woman were decent
May 7, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Day 21: Dusty in Memphis by Dusty Springfield

More Dusty Springfield! I liked this one a lot more than A Girl Called Dusty, the songs are excellent top to bottom and my only complaint is I wanted even more up-tempo stuff. Favorites are Son of a Preacher Man and Breakfast in Bed
May 6, 2025 at 12:53 PM
Day 20: Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto

I can't say I liked this one very much, I'm not familiar with bossa nova music but this album as an introduction was mostly boring to me, nothing was especially memorable after two listens. I thought Stay and The Face I Love were decent
