No one writes about how teachers contributed to the problem. No student ever said, "Wow, that was fantastic and I am really inspired to read!" after being forced to suffer through The Scarlet Letter. Dreadful, boring, and ancient. Our choices make reading painful.

Fair enough. Most people commenting didn't read my post, I fear. I never said, "Don't teach poetry." The post said the opposite. I believe we over-emphasize poetry at the expense of critical life skills. My son had 5 haiku units between 4th and 10th grades...and zero lessons about how to speak well.

I dunno. Bondi said 12 million fentanyl pills were gonna kill over 200,000,000 Americans (TWO-THIRDS OF OUR POPULATION!!). With these small boats packed with enough to kill hundreds of millions more, we'd be wiped out! Am I the only American NOT using these drugs?
