Last week, in classic NB fashion, we stood in the rain to honour my late father, a lifelong forester and conservationist.
A new protected area now bears his name, with a bench called Watling’s Watch. Despite the weather, friends, family, and his old colleagues came out strong. Proud son moment.

Lately, I've thought about Piggy and the boulder, and I think about disorder and savagery’s triumph over reason. How quickly order can collapse when fear takes the wheel. How fragile intellect becomes when violence conquers rules. Then I go make a snack.
