On May 4th 1970 US soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters at Kent State University in Ohio. May the force be with us to prevent anything like this every happening again. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_St...

Paul Krugman: “The Trump formula is apparently what you get if you ask ChatGPT and other AI models to make tariff policy “. Interestingly, the rates are not based on tariffs on the US from other countries, but on trade deficits, but only looking at physical products, not including services.
Will Malignant Stupidity Kill the World Economy?
Trump’s tariffs are a disaster. His policy process is worse.

This is great. The video is about how LiDAR is better than cameras for vehicle control, but to demonstrate how well LiDAR works he smuggled a LiDAR sensor into Space Mountain at Disneyland and mapped out the whole interior of the ride. youtu.be/IQJL3htsDyQ

The Horsehead nebula (IC 434), captured last night at a star party at Olana, the historic home of artist Fredrick Church. The bright star at the top is Altinak, the leftmost star in Orion’s Belt.

I just wanted to search for data, but Google AI conveniently gave me a not so helpful overview. Kids, don't trust an AI to do your math homework.

And the record high seems to now be $3.63/lb, with no tariffs in place. (Note also the bump due to Covid.)

End of last night’s occultation of Mars by the Moon. I was a little impatient and thought autofocus might help, and I think it did, but you can see Mars peaking out just before I triggered it. Seestar S50.

M42, the Orion Nebula, the closest region to us of massive star formation, at only 1300 light years away. Taken tonight with a Seestar S50 from Lake Taghkanic State Park.

Short video of the moon during daylight with a Seestar S50, with tracking turned off, so that you can see the moon slowly moving across the field of view.

Short video of the moon during daylight with a Seestar S50, with tracking turned on. It kept the moon centered pretty well. This is zoomed in, and the shimmer is an effect of the atmosphere.

Images of the moon I took a couple of weeks ago during daylight (which explains why the sky is blue) to test a new Seestar S50 electronic telescope, at x1, x2, and x4.
