I know this is an extreme example. But we can’t take American tech dominance for granted. The list is long of industries where America no longer dominates.

3) As a founder building enterprise-level AI on top of Amazon/Anthropic, trust me when I tell you that the platforms are extracting a ton of value from their APIs already (without AGI). These are among the highest-value APIs in history, if not the highest, based on what they charge other businesses.

2) The AGI labs are in the platform business. They will extract more value by making AGI available to millions of other businesses through their APIs, and let those businesses create actual human-level capabilities at a professional level across thousands of industries.

Even with AGI, companies will need specialized knowledge to guide and train the AGI to perform specialized tasks. Just like humans who are trained to trade stocks or create drugs are better at those tasks than humans with only “general” intelligence.
