Good for them! I believe the kraken, Canadians and ducks do something similar!

I definitely see where you are coming from. I think the idea is that it will bring in tourists (in 2023 when we hosted a ton of people came from Winnipeg). This can lead to people spending money at small local businesses and hotels which give then more money. But i’m not sure it is always worth it.

I actually visited this venue a couple summers ago. I’ve heard a few national teams train there but when we went durning an afternoon is was completely empty.

Wow I didn’t even think of that! Crazy how many ways sport is impacted by the environment and climate change!

In last years nfl playoffs the rams and Vikings game had to be moved to Arizona due to the smoke in LA. This shows how climate change and severe weather patterns/dry conditions can lead to fires that can impact sport

The sports-media complex is where sport and media overlap and depend on each other. Media like CTV cover sports, although they are not reliant on it. TSN is a type of media that is very dependent on sport. For sports, a highschool team would not be dependent whereas the riders are very dependent on.

This is really cool to see. Interesting how this would work, but it actually makes a lot of sense.

They do usually have an NFL game on Christmas. Interesting to see if they expand further.

It’s to bad that athletes are punished and shamed for acts like this where they voice their opinions. It is super selfless of them to take the time and their attention to promote things like that and not celebrate themselves.

The sugar tax is a concept where foods high in sugar or fat are taxed higher in order to incentivize people to buy healthy food. This has proven effective in countries like the UK where obesity has seen a decline in recent years since the tax was added.

This was one of the most insane examples. The fans emotions were completely out of whack that night
November 18, 2025 at 8:27 PM
That is a crazy example of fan violence. It is terrible that fans feel the right to do that to the players. It is also interesting how some of the players actions unintentionally induce the fans to act like this. Unacceptable from the fans.
November 18, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Wow. It’s crazy that so many people got involved. It would be good to see tighter security in high profile matchups like this when it is likely that a fight like this will take place.

Buffalo bills fans often throw snowballs at opposing teams and fans durning the winter games. This shows negative deviance and fan violence in sport. This also shows the fans emotions as they hit the Cheifs after they eliminated the bills from the playoffs

Antonio brown ran off the field at a game in New York. This shows negative deviance as he acted poorly and against what the norms/regular expectations of athletes are. This marked the end of his time in Tampa Bay as he was released soon after.

Almost 30% of Canadians do not have a grocery store within a 15 minute walk from their home. This means that these people will have to travel further to get healthy foods from grocery stores and are more likely to turn to convince stores and fast food.

The women’s Norwegian beach handball team was fined because of their refusal to wear bikinis while playing. This broke gender norms as it has always been expected that women will wear this type of clothing. Men are allowed to wear tank tops and shorts.

I define sport as anything in which you are engaging in physical activity, involves strategy, and includes some sort of scoring system/rules. Sport can be with just a single person, or with many people. It can involve multiple teams, or be simply one person competing with themself.
