Can not wait! (And I devoured the Classmates Home as soon as I finally got it this past Monday <3 )

I get the vibe that it’s a steady seller too, even if I don’t see it talked up on social media as much as I’d like. And they keep returning to her work (did you translate the upcoming Hibana?)

I admit, I was concerned we weren't going to get this volumes in English (even though I think the earlier ones sold well--it felt like there was a bit of a wait)--so I'm happy to sit tight for a while more :D

My copy seems to be stuck in Canada Post's current partial delivery status but I can be patient. I *can* be patient... *grumble*

I commented on your actual YT video page, and someone said there was a transcript of the episode at least, and sure enough here it is (on the old Nausicaa Net archive no less.) It's the second last one www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/tot...

I was 14 when a friend's dad, who ran a monthly charity public movie showing (highly illegal) asked if I would introduce Totoro (I'm sure all of my info was from the old Nausicaa net listserv) and a lot of curious people went to the screening based on our posters saying Ebert gave it a thumbs up.

As a kid/teen I was a regular viewer of S&E and remember being so excited when they reviewed the 1993 release of Totoro. Ebert loved it, Siskel insisted kids would be bored--Ebert suggested he actually re-watch it with kids.A few weeks later Siskel actually said he had done that and Ebert was right.

That was a wild revelation--I didn't remember his review, but wow. As I commented under the (great) video, I wish the first anime review on S&E I remember as a loyal kid watcher was online--for Totoro (Fox/Streamline release) where he reams Siskel out for saying any kid watching would be bored.

It came through! Thanks so much--and I both appreciate just how much work and care is going into this release, and how transparent GB is being about why there are delays, which isn't always true with publishers when they push back release dates. So I remain (patiently) excited.

(My friend DID get it though so maybe there's something wrong with my email...)

Nothing so far... but I'll give it some time ;)

I understand how complicated these things can be. It'd be great if you could maybe post on here when you've resent them so I (and others ;) ) can check, since I know in the past I had stupid issues with my emails from GB Books going to spam despite my email settings.

Just checked my email and junk mail folders and nothing there (I did get an email from you all confirming that the Kickstarter goal was made, but I guess that was sent through Kickstarter...)

Thrilled (!!) and glad my pledge just snuck in there before it made it. And now I can go back to bugging you guys about Liddell ;)

Oh man! When I joined Twitter during COVID and got back into the manga fandom, he was one of the first people who started corresponding with me. Such a sweet guy, and so unexpected.

That's the one I'm (let's face it) desperate for, but the entire bundle is intriguing. Fingers crossed we make the date.

OH! That's terrific news, I'll jump on it then. And yeah, I can't believe the shipping costs (of books anyway) between US/Can at the moment compared to FAR further places...
August 22, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Is there any chance of something similar to Canada?I want to support the KS but I admit shipping to Canada right now is so ridiculous (and I know this is an issue with books from the US in general and not just you guys) that it's frustrating especially considering I'm just across the border from WA.

But it was when you both started to talk about Sondheim that I felt I had to weigh in. ;) I'm not in a position right now to financially support your podcast, but I hope you know how much I love it.

doing a school project on the World's Fairs, and a really kind Imagineer (I'm sure you can guess who) somehow saw my letter and sent me a HUGE box of things connected to their time with those projects.

I've been a long time listener--when you guys were covering the '64 World's Fair Disney stuff I wanted to contribute... I was a kids in the 90s who decided to write to Disney because I was

I still can't wrap my brain around the fact Chuck Tingle is now writing "legit" books (not to offend anyone who considers Slammed In The Butthole By My Concept Of Linear Time perfectly legit,) and they're apparently good. Must get to them!

Time for Liddell news?? 😇
