@timothydiamond.bsky.social No one is saying the companies *themselves* should hire journalists. Someone who worked for Kleenex’s corporate parent would not he a journalist, by definition. They’d be a PR/corporate comm. person.

Here’s why they are something to compare: The disparity means more people spreading the messages that companies and governments want conveyed and fewer people questioning or fact-checking those messages. It means fewer people holding public agencies and big companies accountable.
