Same-day WAPO editorial drop:

“BOOOO Generalissimo Mamdani, YAYYY Captain of Industry Elon!”

So much for far-left media capture, I guess. What a charade.

About to tuck in to some Zohran cake at the home of his speech writer’s very (very!) proud parents. 🎉

Zohran crushed it!

Turns out holding SNAP benefits hostage to hurt the other party is bad politics.

Found this men's room in Prague this summer.

Structural Determinants of Social Outcomes—Exhibit #49,648:

When one birth cohort (late baby boomers) faces a 50% greater risk of homelessness than do other cohorts, it’s a natural quasi-experiment revealing structural causation.

@nytimes.com, how about an article covering the fact that this guy, Joe Kent, is very likely an actual Nazi.

This is a defeat for the Church's conservative bloc.

The Netanyahu regime, which the U.S. supports unquestioningly, lying to cover up a potential war crime is page A14 news.

TL;DR: Red Crescent ambulance crew was unearthed from a mass grave in Rafah. IDF said they weren’t using headlights, flashers, or aid insignia. Cellphone video proves this false.

Columbia could have led the way. Instead, they caved.

Can’t believe this album is *26* years old. Holds up incredibly well.

A great talk series organized by science departments at NYU had to be cancelled because the speakers had concerns for their safety. I’ve received violent threats before, so I get it. It stinks, but it’s an old story: right-wing movements usually target the universities first.

@nytimes.com: "taking over," "driving out," "relocating"? Call it what it is. Trump's plan for the region is to ethnically cleanse Gaza and build beach resorts to profit him and his family. Kushner: “Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable ... Move the people out and then clean it up.”

Trump urges ethnic cleansing of Gaza so that the US can turn it into a tourist destination. Netanyahu smiles approvingly. Christ, what a sickening mix of racism and greed.

My students just read selections from _The Authoritarian Personality_. In their agenda, if not method, Adorno et al. feel more relevant than ever.

It took 75 years, but the scenario that worried them is now playing out: the rise of an anti-democratic movement targeting universities, all of it.

If I were @mcuban.bsky.social or another gigantically wealthy Democrat, I’d offer federal workers twice as much to stay in their jobs.
