At the end of September I was diagnosed with mucoepidermoid carcinoma, a rare type of salivary gland cancer. Thanks to modern medicine and cancer research, it will likely be curable with surgery and some continued treatment. Surgery is one week from today and I can't explain how I feel.

Had a wonderful visit from Valla Fatemi ( @vfatemi.bsky.social?) today at the Lab. Valla gave an excellent talk on his work with Andreev spin qubits and integration into superconducting circuits. Impressive stuff!

Snow day with no power for 10+ hours! Living in rural NY means off the grid for the day. No phone, no running water, no heat 😅. We always make the best of it 😀!

So I have been trying knitting as a night time relaxation and I'm not gonna lie, it feels like my anxiety is a super power for this. Feels good to create something like with my hands. My wife has been producing some remarkable pieces so it's fun to try my hand at this!
