20 people for tea today and I’m not in charge which is wonderful. 1965 to 2025. No diamonds but lots of memories in a long marriage.

Good morning,or rather good evening . It’s been very hot here. I have shrouded some of the pots in pink winter protection! To stop the leaves burning etc.

First mug of coffee drunk and now it’s on with the day. It’s going to be a hot week. My crowd-farming box of fruit includes a small and very welcome watermelon

Book group in the morning where we all talk about the books we are presenting, it’s a browsing group, bit like a friend’s private library. It’s always good when books you like are liked by others. And even better when you come home with something new to read.Fire of Joy is my daily starter of a poem.

Goodbye to Mister Bisto. Diagnosed with bone cancer 10 days ago and it was aggressive.
He went with dignity and with peace and with his tail still
wagging. Not in terrible pain and unable to move or eat. We will miss him more than words can say.

Sorry to hear that but yes, dwelling on it doesn’t help much. I’m being incredibly lazy today as a way of having a break.Tomorrow hope to do a bit of gardening, always good for the spirit. Here’s an amateur photo of a bit of the courtyard when it looked lovely. Time passes and so do the plants.

It’s very warm here in SW France, about 24 in the sheltered courtyard.
I have been tidying the wayward patch and shoving in bulbs that were in pots. The grass needs cutting and I dare say some plants need watering.
But the knees have protested so it is cup of tea time.

Here are some hellebores that have been glorious this year. Even if every bit of them is poisonous they are still wonderful.

Had a crazy few days with J’s health but super service from SAMU et al. My hellebores give me much joy too.

About to read Wild Twin by Jeff Young. A walk across Europe and I have a mini obsession with those. I follow the route and imagine it all. As he writes, ‘I began to dream of places
I had been to and could no longer go.’

I did have a wardrobe of turbans. Rather liked them. Friend made me a turban stand so I have 3 favourites on that as a reminder. On other news, oncology checkup today and all well. He was pleased. 1 more
year with no event as he puts it and we can all relax a bit.

Made two Christmas cakes and am hoping they will be ok as they cooked far quicker than the recipe time. It’s one I’ve used forever but perhaps I’m getting forgetful? Filthy page shows what a messy cook I am . Margaret Costa Seasonal Food, from the late 60s.
