Had a friend recently ask how he can connect his old VCR to his modern TV.

I took one look at it & said it's this cable it'll cost you pennies.

ChatGPT had suggested all kinds of nonsense.

I asked them later how long he'd spent on ChatGPT?

Hours & hours.

Perhaps this is evidence that any good political opinions he holds are by way of accidentally bumping into them, rather than holding internally consistent values

Reporting on his rhetoric as being indicative of policy positions is thus irresponsible for the press to follow as an indication of what US foreign policy will be 2 months or 2 days from now. Foreign policy can't move forward with this situation either, obviously

Don't know if you follow Vlad Vexler on here or in his video vlogs, but his description of Trump is that he has no concept of the world outside of himself, only dispositional states. So, anything he "says" isn't representative of what he thinks (because he doesn't think anything)

24-25 yos around the world are waking up to the fact that, in this construction of socio-political arrangements, there is very little left for them. In nations outside the imperial core, they are already acutely aware there is *nothing* left for them

so much of the conversation (and let's be honest all conversations about politics) danced around - was even explicitly stated at points - the word / concept "we"

when I talk with friends about how EU isn't moving fast enough to get in on AI and how it's such a shame the tech sector is falling behind, I just respond "good"

no reason to be the bag-holders for these US companies that are lobotomizing themselves

Ugh, I know you’re right but… just want to shake people sometimes

There was another post recently about aligning EU fiscalization policy to do this (which I completely agree). Do you think, given the fact there’s not much choice in how to become resilient as a block, that EU can overcome this internalized idea of member-state status?

Do you think the common perspective in EU - “we’re screwed, no government is able to do anything, we have too much debt” - can be overcome? Having a non-U.S. tech sector that serves eu citizen’s needs seems a no-brainer, but will debt-financed gov investment (like what US can do)
