This is her M.O. across the board, political and policy-wise.

Every person deserves a harassment-free workplace. A strong investigative process is one that centers the person who was hurt. And when they experience harassment, they deserve support and guidance.

@hfny.bsky.social is here to provide support if you need it.
Any investigation of workplace sexual harassment must not only be thorough, speedy and independent— it must also be survivor centered. Knowing how others who have come forward were treated in the past, I hope the person who made the complaint is getting the support and guidance they deserve.

Cuomo’s taxpayer-funded defense attorney (who’s raked in $19+ million) was also on Cuomo’s campaign team.

Sure hope @nyscomptroller.bsky.social reviews Glavin’s invoices to see if she’s charging New Yorkers for her time with Candidate Cuomo.

Here’s the thing…Cuomo’s sexual harassment is so much more than a women’s/feminist issue. It’s a corruption issue. I’ve it said before: sexual harassment is the canary in the corruption coal mine. Read @rtraister.bsky.social’s thoughtful, brilliant write up: substack.com/inbox/post/1...
The attempt to wave off his "ethics and conduct" as somehow a distraction from the claim that he would be better for New York minimizes the harassment, but also fails to reflect that the harassment allegations were not some side sin, but in line with everything else that had always been troubling and corroded about Cuomo's leadership. Yes, there was plenty of power abuse that was sexualized. But the danger in thinking of it as only sexual harassment is that it can be written off as only sexual harassment, walled off from the rest of his governing style, which in Cuomo's case it absolutely cannot be.

But it’s clear the Hochul needs to re-evaluate how the state handles these suits. My statement:
After spending over $2.5 million in taxpayer dollars defending the state, Governor Hochul finally settled with Charlotte Bennett, a committed public servant who should’ve had this chapter closed long ago . No amount of money may ever make up for the trauma Charlotte endured, and this unnecessary prolonging of legal proceedings, could have easily been avoided. But the stipulation barring Charlotte from future employment in New York State's executive branch is deeply unjust. Charlotte Bennett was a dedicated public servant who was driven from her position by Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment, and his enablers’ retaliation. To now restrict her employment opportunities within state government punishes Charlotte rather than those responsible for the sexual harassment and retaliation. The Sexual Harassment Working Group has proposed legislation that would ban precisely these types of restrictive stipulations that prevent people like Charlotte from having their employment prospects cut off. This settlement sends a concerning message about how our state handles harassment claims from public servants. Governor Hochul should reevaluate the State’s approach and ensure it’s more worker-centered.

Here’s my response:
I’m more embarrassed than surprised for so-called ‘champions of women’ like Senator Gillibrand who stood with victims of harassment and abuse when it was in vogue, and now beclown themselves by caving to Cuomo. If our political leaders had half the integrity of the people they represent — and the women whose stories they profited from — New York City voters wouldn’t be in this position in the first place.

Sexual harassment is ALWAYS about asserting power. And Andrew Cuomo will do whatever he wants to assert his dominance - over government staff, other elected officials, and the New Yorkers he claims he wants to represent. It’s disgusting and disqualifying.
In her book, Miner also recounted two incidents in which Cuomo publicly kissed her at the end of well-attended events. "I assumed he did it because he knew I was popular, and he wanted to show people we had a relationship as he prepared for his reelection," she said, recalling an encounter after one of his 2017 State of the State addresses. "Did I want that? No. Was it clear from my body language, my facial expression, and everything he knew about me I did not want that? Yes, which is why he did it: to show his political dominance ... "With Andrew Cuomo, his kissing me was about power. I never viewed it as sexual. We were gladiators in a public ring and that's how he showed he was boss ... I chose to be in the arena, and his kisses were the least of his control tactics."

For example — after Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment by members of his staff, he tried to embarrass his victims instead of apologizing. He issued dozens of subpoenas, attempting to obtain confidential information against his victims, and in one case he sought to gain access to files held by one of his victims’ gynecologists. Overall, 74% of the voters we surveyed had serious or very serious concerns about that. Cuomo gained prominence for his handling of COVID, but his administration forced sick New Yorkers into nursing homes, leading to the deaths of thousands of people, and New York led the country in nursing home deaths. At the same time, he hid the number of nursing home deaths during the pandemic, underreporting them by 50% in order to gain publicity and secure a $5 million book deal. This raised serious or very serious concerns from 72% of voters.

Also, as PoliticoNY notes in their piece, I’m apparently living rent-free in Plaintiff Andrew Cuomo’s head. Cuomo’s legal strategy is using NYers’ hard-earned taxpayer $ to chase conspiracy theories rather than take responsibility for his own actions.

In a statement to Playbook, Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi criticized Vladimer and noted she had recently been sent a document preservation notice as part of the defamation case against Bennett. “We are following the law as written and what Vladimer fails to disclose in her press release disguised as a letter is that she herself has been asked to preserve her communications with Charlotte Bennett and her lawyers because of serious concerns from our counsels that Vladimir has been working with them to interfere with Governor Cuomo’s defense,” Azzoardi said.

A reminder: Asm. @votejgr.bsky.social & Sen. Hinchey who fought for universal school meals before the Gov came around. And they didn't do it because it was "courageous." They did it because it's the right thing to do.

This is everything that’s wrong with the NYS Democratic Party. We have to actually FIX the issues impacting New Yorkers, not just “talk about it again and again.”

We need a chair who knows effective comms strategy means nothing without real action. Jay…is not that chair.

My partner and I found a teeny tiny snail in his apartment and I’ve named him Pierre Escargot (I know) and I tried to feed him a piece of lettuce but now he’s hiding and won’t come out! Long live the slugs and their… cousins?
