Willful or not, it isn’t evident which is my point. I’m well aware that it’s a choice.

There’s nothing actionable, yet there are several states with bills in progress to make various parts real with consequences. I am not changing my steps or what I do in schools, yet I’m not ignoring it either.

I’m still moving forward, yet pacing myself and reading my body. My child as well as all children deserve a better world.

I don’t think they know what it means nor can they define the buzz words.

My state (Indiana) won’t challenge any of it, but I know others will.

I’m fuming and committed to moving out of Indiana.

If justice doesn’t reflect your walk, commit to working on yourself and spare the world from your performance.

Politicians who publicly evoke Dr. Kings’s words while signing executive orders to dismantle DEI/antiracism work across systems.

We all have choices. If you choose to quote MLK ask yourself how you show up into the work of advancing racial equity and a world where liberation exists for all.

Too often, I note performative actions:

People who publicly proclaim to believe in justice-centered work, while remaining silent in the face of injustice.

People who claim to value inclusion, while actively voting for politicians and policies that are antithetical to racial justice.

This is one of the saddest videos I have seen in 2025.

Same fear. I worry about the implications for services/systems that support multilingual learners.
